Overview

Golden Salon Berkeley launched in a vibrant, highly competitive beauty market in the East Bay. Despite the owner’s high level of craft, the salon lacked a cohesive visual identity and a digital footprint to compete with established local boutiques. The goal was to build a brand that reflected the salon’s premium services while creating a seamless booking experience that turned digital browsers into lifelong clients.

Brand Strategy and Goals

The brand identity was designed to establish an upscale, modern, and inviting aesthetic. Key strategic goals included:

  • Position Golden Salon as a premier destination for expert hair styling and color in Berkeley.

  • Communicate Artistry: Use clean, sophisticated design to signal professional expertise and a luxury client experience.

  • Streamline the Client Journey: Ensure the transition from social media discovery to appointment booking was frictionless.

  • Build Local Authority: Establish a strong presence in local search results to capture Berkeley residents looking for high-quality, sustainable salon services.

Process

Visual Identity & Logo Design—

Collaborated on a custom logo and color palette that reflects the “Golden” namesake—utilizing warm tones and elegant typography to appeal to a discerning Berkeley demographic.

Google Business Profile (GBP)—

• Audited and corrected deep-level account discrepancies that had prevented Google Business Profile approval for over 120 days. By resolving persistent naming-convention errors and authentication hurdles overnight, I bypassed a long-standing stalemate, allowing for immediate local SEO optimization and lead generation.

• Strategically categorized services to ensure the salon appears in “Near Me” searches for haircuts, coloring, and specialty treatments in the East Bay area.

Wix Website Development—

• Translated Golden Salon’s organic and minimalist brand identity into a custom Wix interface. Curated a visual-first layout featuring high-resolution portfolios and stylist profiles, balanced with clear calls-to-action (CTAs) that align with the salon’s upscale North Berkeley aesthetic.
