Reviewing Your Proposal and Contract
Your proposal defines the recommended work, project scope, deliverables, fees and payment schedule. It may also identify services, software or third-party costs that are not included in the quoted project fee.
The contract establishes the terms under which the work will be completed. It covers responsibilities, approvals, payment, intellectual property, project delays, cancellation and other conditions that apply to the engagement.
Before approving the project:
- Confirm that the listed services and deliverables match your expectations.
- Review any items identified as outside the project scope.
- Confirm the payment schedule and recurring costs.
- Identify the person authorized to provide final approvals.
- Ask questions about anything that is unclear before signing.
Work begins after the required agreement has been signed and the initial payment has been received.
Requests that substantially change the approved scope may require a separate estimate, an amended proposal or hourly billing. Small refinements within the approved direction are handled through the normal review process.
