How Are Brand Colors, Fonts and Visual Direction Selected?

Visual direction begins with the business, not with current design trends.

Existing logos, colors and brand standards are reviewed first. The website’s audience, services, market position, photography and desired impression are also considered. A professional service business may require a different visual system than a retail store, medical practice or personal brand.

Colors and fonts are selected for:

  • Readability
  • Accessibility
  • Consistency
  • Mobile performance
  • Brand recognition
  • Appropriate tone
  • Long-term usability

The final design should feel connected to the business while remaining clear and functional. Personal preferences are considered, but design decisions must also support hierarchy, navigation and the customer experience.

Brand development beyond the website, such as a new logo or complete visual identity, is a separate service unless included in the proposal.
